Appreciate Ya'

A Deeper Thank You!

We say “Thanks” (or “Maholo” if you are in Hawaii) to anybody that passes the salt or holds the door for us. It is way of expressing gratitude to someone who has been kind to us. But is there a better way of expressing gratitude for those who have gone out of their way to improve our lives?

Try using the phrase “I appreciate you” to acknowledge someone and let them know that because of them, something valuable has happened in your life.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner and reflecting back on the bountiful crop that you have produced this year, here are five people that you may want to reach out to say “I appreciate you”:

  • The person in your life that has pushed you to do more and go out of your comfort zone.

  • Someone you feel most accepted with and can be your truest self around.

  • The person you look up to and use their example as your guiding light.

  • The most positive person you know. The one that always looks for the best in every situation and stays positive even when things are rough.

  • Your spouse who goes out of their way to provide you with what you need and loves you unconditionally.

Remember not to overuse the phrase like Marshawn Lynch in a post-game interview, but to take a moment to consider those in your life who have made a meaningful impact (not just passed you the salt). Then let them know how much they have meant to you.
